Love to entertain?

At the start of every consultation we ask questions. Not just about what colours you like, and what worktops you would like. We try and find out a bit more about what your dream space would be like, and how you will use it, so it is perfect.

The client brief

“We’re a big family and we love to entertain. The new extension will house our new kitchen, which we would like to be modern with a breakfast bar, so guests or children can sit with us whilst we cook.”

JD Kitchen’s solution

The new extension gave us a wonderful blank canvas to work from, and make an amazing space for families who love to cook together. We knew the family wanted a breakfast bar, so we designed it as a feature of the kitchen. To avoid it appearing austere, we introduced different textures, which also helped to differentiate the cooking space. A clever use of colour and lighting also helped to create zones.
The customer selected the Schuller Unigloss door in magnolia and Bari door in smoked oak, finished with a Quartz Morell worktop with upstands, and a Quooker tap.

Several NEFF appliances complete this chefs haven, including a Slide & Hide oven, compact oven and microwave, coffee centre, warming drawers, gas hob, American fridge freezer, and hidden behind a door a NEFF dishwasher.

NEFF; what’s the big deal?

Around 25 % off all appliances sold in the UK are by German company NEFF. That’s a huge percentage, and here at JD Kitchens we think that there is a reason why they are so popular, well actually we’ve found several!

Firstly, they really know what they’re doing, creating appliances that work just as well as any you would find in a commercial kitchen, but obviously on a smaller scale for the chef at home.

They’re easy to use.  The digital displays make using them much more simple than rooting through a manual!   For example, on the ovens, if you want to prove bread, just click the prove bread setting. It will set the timer and temperature – giving you a helping hand. The fridges, washing machines and dishwasher are all equally intuitive and simple to programme.

Style is right up there on NEFF’s list of essential criteria, and they don’t hold back. Sleek, stylish and with new technology emerging every week, they’re ahead of the game and it shows.

JD Kitchens are a NEFF Master partner too. But what does that mean for you?

Well, firstly it means we get a better rate, which we pass on to you to make them more affordable. We also have access to products not found in other stores giving you wider choice.

Because we’re local we can fit them for you, even if you just want to replace your oven, rather than your whole kitchen. And best of all, you can see them working in our showroom – we’ll even let you bake in them!

Oh yes, there are free pans with every induction hob too at the moment.
It really makes sense to shop local, doesn’t it!

Kitchen trends for 2018

What’s trending in kitchens this year? We’ve asked the team what’s hot so far in 2018.

Cass, designer suggests open shelving is making a statement

Open shelving is becoming increasingly popular with homeowners able to make a statement in their kitchen by adding their own personality with accessories, treasured finds and even deluxe food items. It’s perfect for homes where the kitchen is a focus for entertaining.

‘Great lighting’, says Jason.

“As kitchens become used for more than cooking, lighting to zone and tie the look together become more important. If you want to sit down and enjoy your meal in the same room, you need options to change the mood from bright cooking space to a more mellow ambience”.

Dave, owner of JD Kitchens suggests that whatever the size of the kitchen, making the most of the space is paramount.

“Floor to ceiling units with no space above the unit not only stops any dust catching, it maximises storage, and it is a key trend for 2018.

Whilst efficient use of space is essential for smaller kitchens, those with a love of entertaining and kitchen gadgetry benefit too.

Internal drawers, pull out storage systems and tall larder storage also help with this, and they create a very streamlined look”.

Finally, Dave explains that colour is big for 2018.

“Whilst grey and cream remain popular base colours, we’re seeing a rise in customers choosing more than one colour unit, or adding accent colours with their worktops”.
